The past six months have been hard for the world of employment.
Lockdown, compulsory work from home, furlough, redundancy… We’ve heard those words an ‘unprecedented’ amount of times.
And a number of companies have really suffered in this crisis and had to let go of some of their people.
If you’ve been made redundant, you’ll go through a range of emotions before you can accept the situation and be ready to move on.
And that’s ok.
But, I have 5 mindset shifts to stay positive when you’ve lost your job.
|It’s not fair that others stayed and I had to go||I am grateful for the time I have had in my previous role and happy for my colleagues who have been able to stay. I am destined for bigger and better things.|
|I have lost my job because I’m not good at it||The current situation has been hard on my employer and they had to make difficult decisions about who to keep and who to let go. The company did not need my talents to survive but I now have an opportunity to help another company thrive.|
|I’m not earning anything so I’m worthless||I might not be earning at the moment but I am amazing at what I do and I’ll be worth every penny my future employer invests in me.|
|I won’t get a job, I’m too old, inexperienced, expensive…||There is a company out there that needs me. I have the skills and experience to help them succeed and I will make it my mission to find it.|
|Everyone is making redundancies, no one is hiring||This crisis affected my industry but a lot of other companies are booming and they need talent fast. Luckily for them, I’m available right now!|
